According to East Haddam Today, Imor had presumably entered the water to try to swim out to the island from the old cemetery located on the upper Moodus Reservoir, on East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike. He and his friends had come down to spend the day, as his parents previously had a cottage ("bungalow") in the area.
